We catch up with singer songwriter Carolee Rainey and speak to her about her music, and new single, ‘Hard Times In The Heart’. You can read our review of this song here.
Is the song “Hard Times In The Heart” based on a true story?
‘Hard Times In the Heart’ is loosely based on a true story.
Is there any specific message that you try to express to your fans in your song “Hard Times In The Heart”?
The biggest message I’d like to share with readers from my song ‘Hard Times In The Heart’ is to know your partner as much as possible before you move in together or get married. It takes quite a while to figure out if someone is right for you.
What inspired you to start creating music?
When I was growing up I read a lot of poetry. Much of it was so beautiful, especially with the illustrations, but I always felt something was missing. I often felt a tug to add music to the words. I remember feeling this urge as young as 8 years old.
What is your musical dream or goal? Sell out a tour? Have one of your songs go #1 on the Billboard Top 100?
My musical goal is to always inspire my audience to follow their dreams. My personal musical dreams are to sell out tours, get to the top of the charts, and make a lot of money!
If you could collaborate with any other music artist in the world, who would it be? And why?
At the moment if I could collaborate with any artist it would be Brandi Carlile. There are several reasons why but one of them is that I feel like I resonate with who she is especially after reading her book ‘Broken Horses.’ Seems like we share some common occurrences in our childhood that would give us a lot to talk about as well as turn those themes into inspirational lyrics for a new song.
If you were about to play your music for the first time for someone, what would you tell them to expect?
I would tell them to expect sincerity, passion, and a journey of themes that vacillate from shadows to light.
Is there a certain type of energy or feeling that you try to show in your music?
I think the energy I always work on portraying is ‘earthy and real.’
What do you have planned for the future in 2024? Any new songs or albums that you are hoping to release soon?
Plans for 2024 are an album release and a mini-documentary release!
