Rap powerhouse Young Hitta is reaching for the stars with his new single, ‘Letter 2 My Folks’.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Young Hitta brings the spirit of brotherly love with him in his authentic, lively, and expertly crafted tracks. He grew up immersed in the music world, all while looking up to his father, DJ and TV music show host Ronnie Ron, and due to his being surrounded by musical legends from an early age, he’s always had a unique perspective on the scene.
Young Hitta embarked on his rap journey as a young teenager, resulting in fiery, passionate tracks with a smooth flow, packed full of bass, melodies, and lyrics that resonate with all listeners. Just like he was mentored by those who went before, Young Hitta lends his talents – including producing, engineering, managing, and more – to the promising up and coming talents he sees.
New single, ‘Letter 2 My Folks’, was entirely written, produced, and engineered by Young Hitta, and the emotionally charged and deeply moving track is dedicated to both his mother and grandmother, whom he lost respectively in 2023 and 2020. Taking the form of an intimate letter, the song is raw and honest, as Young Hitta expresses his deepest gratitude for those sacrifices made by his family and mentors, while at the same time, acknowledging the struggles and triumphs that have shaped his journey.
The music video for ‘Letter 2 My Folks’ is no less moving in its portrayal of loss, love, and resilience. Directed in collaboration with Mirzy Productions (@1mirs), it contains within a muted atmosphere of reflection and reverence, and each frame sees Young Hitta bringing his letter to life, infused with the grittiness that’s unique to Philly. With quick cuts and flashes bringing life and energy into every shot, Young Hitta delivers his verses amidst the vibrant visuals, his presence commanding. Nonetheless, our attention is captured by the two pendants, containing pictures of his mother and grandmother; cherished photos that never leave Young Hitta’s side, and remain close to his heart. Packed full of personal touches, ‘Letter 2 My Folks’ serves as a visual diary, as well as a heartfelt tribute to Young Hitta’s lost ones. Additionally, it’s an invitation to his viewers to share in his journey of healing, gratitude, and perseverance.
