Ghost Hounds Are Taking A ‘Long Ride Home’ In New Country Single Featuring Patty Griffin

Country blues rock band, Ghost Hounds, have been marked within the music industry as the biggest “Breakout Band” of 2025, and with songs like ‘Long Ride Home’, their take on Patty Griffin’s 2002 hit – featuring the legendary artist herself – it’s easy to see why.

The music video for ‘Long Ride Home’ is brilliantly directed by Jay Arcansalin, whose credits include modern industry giants such as Mike Posner and Imagine Dragons, and he captures the heartbreak and grief, as well as regret, that often goes hand in hand with losing a loved one. Opening in black and white with a man getting into a vintage looking hearse, as he drives down the winding cemetery road, SAVNT’s rich and soulful vocals work their magic on Griffin’s lyrics, painting an aural picture. Likewise, the solo guitar progression highlights the man’s emotional journey, as in the clip we see a tear roll down his cheek as he’s laying flowers down on a grave.

Cutting then over to SAVNT, we see him leaning against the very same car, and he remains in position throughout the remainder of the video, perhaps in acknowledgment a loss of his own, while singing the heart-wrenching lyrics.

SAVNT’s voice moves from soft and solemn to powerful, while the rest of the band bring their instruments in, and the story changes as the man thinks about his life with his departed loved one. In the second verse, Patty Griffin joins in a duet with SAVNT beautifully blending. The end of the video is just like the start, with a wailing violin fading out, leaving the listener with a simple guitar melody and a bereft – yet somehow cathartic – feeling.
