Earlier this year, Rachael Sage returned with a reimagined acoustic album titled ‘Another Side,’ transforming songs from her 2023 album ‘The Other Side’ into harmonious new renditions. The folk-Americana star has captivated listeners with her stripped-back approach and classic songwriting sensibilities, breathing new life into an ethereal collection of songs. As she embarks on a series of live performances supporting multi-award-winning British artist Will Young, Sage has unveiled a brand-new music video for her heartfelt rendition of Alison Moyet’s classic, ‘Only You.’
Sage effortlessly delivers the track’s timeless melody, infusing the synth-pop hit with a warm, poignant depth. Her wistful folk arrangement and knack for intricate storytelling bring the romantic essence of the song to the forefront, blending subtle acoustic guitar with seamless vocals. This is further enriched by additional guitar and percussion parts from her longtime band, The Sequins, featuring Grammy-nominated cellist Dave Eggar on cello and Amy Speace on harmonies.
The heartwarming effect of the cover is mirrored in the accompanying music video, where Sage’s talents as a multi-instrumentalist shine through. She is shown playing both the piano and acoustic guitar, effortlessly displaying her skill with each instrument. Adding a charming twist, the video also captures her enjoying other passions—painting and dance. The result is a comforting experience that genuinely honours the essence of ‘Only You.’
Rachael Sage has found a foothold in the folk scene with her innovative songwriting and sharp, witty poeticism, earning her multiple awards and a worldwide audience. Fresh from supporting British legend Lulu at iconic venues such as The London Palladium, Sage joins Will Young this week as he tours his new album ‘Light It Up,’ in addition to supporting the incredible Hue and Cry on the second half of their 40th-anniversary tour, where you can witness ‘Another Side’ in action.
