Los Angeles based artist SMILEZ returns with his new single and video, ‘Open Ur Eyes’.
The music video for ‘Open Ur Eyes’ starts in black and white, a departure from SMILEZ signature vibrant yellow. The dramatic monochromatic theme matches the energy and lyrics of the song, which are more serious than his usual fare, with the introspective rock vibes reflective of the likes of Nirvana, and The Strokes.
Midway through the song however, the tone starts to change, and as soon as the lyrics become more positive, four yellow versions of SMILEZ appear, a la Bohemian Rhapsody. The four singers urge listeners to ‘Open Ur Eyes’, and realise that there are positive moments in life that we need to focus on when the times get tough.
