We’re All SMILEZ With His Video For Latest Track, ‘I Hate My Ex’

Following hot on the heels of his previous release, ‘Coffee Queen‘, SMILEZ returns with his new single, ‘I Hate My Ex’. We’re sensing a bit of a theme here; the track, which will should instantly become an anthem for the heartbroken, sees the artist chanting his resentments towards his ex, layered over a beat packed to the rafters with trap and bass.

The catchy and memorable lyrics, ready-made for stadium-wide shout-alongs, fully encapsulate the feelings one goes through in a break-up. Sometimes vengeful, other times wistful, there’s no doubting SMILEZ’s talent as he expresses a wide range of emotions, all while not losing a single drop of his swagger.

SMILEZ does double duty for ‘I Hate My Ex’, directing and editing the music video as well, which positively exudes his signature style. We see a carousel of exes, performed by SMILEZ’s Instagram model friends, switching between black and white and filtered colours. All the while the women are tearing up photos of the artist, mouthing the lyrics to the repeated refrain. You’ll be humming along before you know it – and you know what? You won’t regret it for a second.
