Are Jedward Returning To Eurovision This Year? We Address The Rumours

If like us you enjoy a bit of Eurovision, you’ll also know that ever since their two time tilt at the contest in 2011 and 2012, Dublin’s favourite twins Jedward have been rumoured to return. 2019 is no different, with the whispers once again starting up, wondering if John and Edward Grimes will be back this year, and if so, representing which country.

Starting with a rumour midway through last year, which suggested that they would be representing the UK (this has since been discounted, as we know the six contenders for the UK), further fuel has been added to the fire by a tweet from Jedward’s side account late last month:

This was immediately followed by another, equally mysterious tweet:

While these tweets in themselves prove nothing apart from the fact that Jedward will be enjoying May, they also suggest that they will be enjoying May with other people. There are others returning to the Eurovision Song Contest, including Serhat, representing San Marino for the second time. Other well known pop/EDM artists are performing this year too, including Lake Malawi for The Czech Republic, and Finnish DJ Darude, representing his home country. Furthermore, Bilal Hassani is a well known singer and YouTuber, and will be singing for France. With at least 20 countries yet to announce who will be representing them, there are still ample opportunities for Jedward to be announced.

Add to this the fact that Jedward have announced they will be releasing their fourth album shortly, containing at least 16 brand new singles that nobody has heard before, and that they are currently in Los Angeles recording even more songs, the rumours begin to have some substance. Whatever the case, we are looking forward to see what John and Edward have in store for us – we know that “May is gonna be JEPIC”!
