Ahead of her new album, ‘Spend A Little Time’, set for release on the 18th of September, Lisa Michelle Anderson is getting nostalgic with her new single and music video, “California Dreamin‘”.
Bringing retro vibes and country-Americana stylings, Lisa Michelle Anderson blends emotional warmth with vivid storytelling, which sees her capturing snapshots of everyday life.
The new single, “California Dreamin'”, is paired with a music video that feels as though it’s been shot on a Super-8 camera, while there’s a sort of Wes Anderson feel to the colour grading, reflecting the cosiness and warmth of the song.
Modern clips are juxtaposed with band snaps, seemingly from the 80s, along with old footage of surfers hanging five, scenes of Venice Beach, the Hollywood Sign, and walks along the beach with its golden sand.
Anderson, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, brings sweet, airy vocals, reminiscing of days gone by, while at the same time feeling a little hopeful of something happening with someone. It’s a welcome return for us from Anderson, who last appeared on our pages in February last year.
“California Dreamin'” also features Johnny Irion on guitar, who additionally produced her upcoming album, ‘Spend A Little Time’, along with G Winnard on drums, percussion, and vocals, David Lehr on bass, Pete Adams on pedal steel, Simon Guthrie on keys, and Katherine Winston on vocals.
