Take Me Out To The Ball Game: Ozzie D. Is Back With New Single, ‘Step Up’

Ozzie D. is back with ‘Step Up’, a heartfelt song about falling in love and all that goes with it – both good and bad.

Using baseball metaphors throughout the song, Ozzie D. relates in ‘Step Up’ about falling in love with “the boy next door”, and how they soon “wind up in such a mess”. Her love was all-consuming, but she reached a breaking point when she realised that he wasn’t being truthful with her. A blues-laden track that’s filled with emotion, Ozzie sings of how he needs to step up to the plate, lock eyes with the pitcher, and hit a home run. It’s up to him to turn things around, Ozzie has done all she can, and she isn’t interested in having her heart broken.

The lyric video for ‘Step Up’, made in collaboration with HIP Video Productions, shows couples going about their daily lives, with all the good and bad times. The struggle is evident, and something that perhaps viewers might understand all too well, serving as a reminder that they’re not alone, and that they deserve to be treated with kindess, respect, and dignity. It’s also a reminder that those who aren’t willing to ‘Step Up’ should instead “run and hide”, because, just like Ozzie, those who have been hurt by heartbreak often find they’re stronger on the other side.
