Ron Brunk Is A ‘Real Person’ In A World That Is Increasingly Succumbing To Technology

With 38 albums under his belt, and having survived a litany of experiences that would scare most of us off, Ron Brunk has a lot to celebrate about. His music exemplifies a life well-lived, and his creativity knows no end, and this is why he’s choosing – not for the first time, and certainly not for the last – to use his platform to voice his concerns about the state of the world. With ‘Real Person’, he addresses the increasing surrender of society to the crushing onslaught of technology, in particular, AI.

The first of two singles to address this, Ron Brunk asks listeners to wake up from their brainwashed, oblivious slumber, that’s been induced by powerful forces. He offers us a chance to recalibrate, to “open your gut to the glory and your mind to the magnificence” of a world overflowing with pure humanity. To refuse to buckle – even under the threat of extinction.

Everywhere we look these days, in classrooms, the workplace, and even homes, it seems we’re asked to turn to AI to complete our tasks for us. Possibly most frightening is its incursion into the arts, including the recording industry, where songs – or even artists – are able to be generated by an AI prompt. It’s enough to crush an artist’s spirit, and it’s certainly saddened Ron Brunk, who knows that what makes music great is the human touch. With ‘Real Person’ he stands against anything and everything that allows itself to surrender to the encroach of technological takeover. With Blues guitar riffs filled with attitude, he takes us to a world where everyone is real – people, music, and love.

In the music video for ‘Real Person’ we see Brunk joined by two mannequins. They’re dressed in their finest attire, but wholly lifeless, as Ron plays guitar. From time to time we flash to the dummies, as, seemingly, they sing along with Ron. But it’s all pretend, they’re only as “lifelike” as Ron allows. Meanwhile, he’s the true star, swinging and singing, filled with energy and vigour – so much more than any electric sheep could dream of.
