With an artistic style that’s always been about shining a light in the darkness, BOSCO’s latest release, ‘One Goodbye’ additionally brings with it a nostalgic vibe.
With delicate acoustic guitar from the start, drawing reflection and somberness, ‘One Goodbye’ soon swells into a fully emotional piece, with its organ melodies and laid back percussion, as BOSCO sings of the ease of getting swept up in the stuff of modern life, and losing sight of what really matters. He stresses how important it is to remember to appreciate the ones we love, while we still have time. We need to make that call, show we care, and heal the pain that’s been left unsaid. Tomorrow is never promised to us; but even so, it’s never too late to transform that “one goodbye” into a hearty hello.
The music video for ‘One Goodbye’ retains the same nostalgic feel of the song, as it opens with the Rumi quote, “The wound is the place where the Light enters you”. And just like Rumi, who in his poems often explored love, spirituality, sorrow, passion, and loss, BOSCO echoes the same spirit in the video, with clips of a 70’s childhood, filled with love and warmth, but juxtaposed with footage of BOSCO, in the present, face to face with an empty chair. He walks through his studio, warmly lit, seemingly searching for something to make it all right again: we know instinctively that he was unable to say the things that needed to be said, to the person who once sat in that chair. BOSCO reminds us that the time to say those things is now. There may not be another chance.
