Triple Blaxxx is a master motivator who has been singing since the late 1990s and early 2000s, when he sang backing vocals with Jamaican reggae DJ, Tony Rebel and his crew. Now he’s in California, where he’s stepping out to the front of the stage, and instilling his reggae roots into new tracks, lighting up spirits and dance floors.
Latest single, ‘Motivation’, came to Triple Blaxxx all of a sudden; over the years he’d filled books with his lyrics, but nothing had struck him quite so quickly as this new piece. It’s vibrant and compelling, the sort of thing we as a human family need to hear right now.
‘Motivation’ is more like inspiring advice set to music than a song so much; each line is a reassurance to take to heart and work into your life, encouraging and warm, wrapped up in a all-enveloping blanket of reggae and hip-hop. Triple Blaxxx tells us, “Just keep your goal in sight, and you’re gonna be alright.”
The music video for ‘Motivation’ continues this warm message of hope and assurance. Shot in a range of locations across Los Angeles, from high rises. to colourfully painted murals, to California bungalows. We see people who are trying to do better with their lives, their struggles written across their faces. One such person is having problems paying her bills; another is worried about where he’s going to sleep tonight. Yet another is playing football, and hoping to reach his dream of playing in the NFL. It’s a powerful reminder that every story matters, and everyone’s life counts. All the while, Triple Blaxxx is a beacon, motivating us to push forward, and to remember that unless we’re “six feet under” there’s still hope. “You got life in you,” he says, “so go ahead and live it.”
