An irresistibly groovy track, Eddy Puyol’s new single, ‘Good Time’ puts the fun into funk.
Originally sampled from ‘Beautiful/Be With You’, which Eddy previously released under his former musical persona, Rawsrvnt, ‘Good Time’ is a re-imagining of the dreamy hip-hop soundscape, with the help of Puyol’s collaborator Doctor Dukes. The end result is a sparkling fusion of retro funk with modern sensibilities, taking clear inspiration from funk legends, such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang, Marvin Gaye, among others. The feel good energy in the track is evident in every note, reflecting the importance of faith and family in Eddy Puyol’s life.
This is also shown in the music video for ‘Good Time’. Directed by Will Thomas, who was also at the helm of Puyol’s clips for ‘Like A Cadillac’, and ‘Bang Bang Baby’, it’s a laid back visual that invites viewers with open arms to take part in the celebration.
