Stephen Thomas Encourages Us All With ‘Back Home’

Stephen Thomas’s single, ‘Back Home’, serves as a powerful tribute to that place which shapes us all – home.

There are times when we mistakenly think that going back home is tantamount to giving up. But it’s quite the opposite. Even through the hardest of times, and the most doubtful of moments, home is where the heart is. It’s where we find our roots, where we planted firmly in the ground.

Stephen Thomas knows this. With ‘Back Home’ he celebrates the strength to be found in returning to where it all began, and embracing the changes that inevitably come with it. His alt-rock sound is timeless while amplifying his simple message, and it’s certainly resonated with many. While this is the second track of his we’re reviewing, it was actually his debut, and since its release, ‘Back Home’ has found its way to some of the most prominent editorial streaming playlists, charting near the top 60s on Active Rock/Mainstream radio, and amassing more than 300,000 TikTok views in less than a day.

The music video for ‘Back Home’, also directed by Will Thomas, takes us to the hustle and bustle of New York City. The life of a young woman, played by Ava Breeze, appears to be unravelling, as she both loses her job and her apartment. She’s standing at the crossroads of life, and faced with only one choice – to go back home. It’s a hard decision to make, but once she finally does it, the relief is totally tangible.

Stephen Thomas is backed by city landmarks in Brooklyn and beyond as he sings his deeply heartfelt lyrics, and the track serves as a testament to finding true happiness – a message we can all relate to.
