Forgottensong Grapple With A Difficult Subject In Folk Rock Track, ‘City Of Thieves’

Based in Barcelona, Spain, Forgottensong investigate a world of deception and prejudice in their new single, ‘City Of Thieves’, and match their observations to music that serves to amplify the poetry of their lyrics.

With a powerfulness that never has to be loud to be heard, Forgottensong allows their ideas set the tempo, whether they be compositional, sonic, and conceptual. With tight and economical writing, and an arrangement to match, ‘City Of Thieves’ is all gently propulsive drums, firmly strummed acoustic and electric guitars, and a haunting lead vocal performance.

The music video for ‘City Of Thieves’ sees director Scott Allyn guide the viewer through the backstreets and alleys of the City Of Thieves. It’s a black and white view, with the shapes we see melting and morphing into each other, while the faces of those who pass by the camera appear to distort and come apart. It’s not quite animated, and not quite live action, with a parade becoming something quite sinister, strangely hypnotic and yet slightly frightening. The clip for ‘City Of Thieves’ shows us a world that’s not possible to fully comprehend, one where deception is always around.
