‘Fly Fella’ is able to be streamed and downloaded here.
From Southall, West London, Big Mubz has been making a name for himself with his upbeat sound and heartfelt bars that tell a relatable story of life on the streets. Citing influences including the likes of Joe Black, Lil Durk, and Potter Payper, ‘Fly Fella’ serves as a reflection of Big Mubz’s hunger for growth and success. His emotion and determination echo through his lines, while popular culture references (such as Bruce Banner, and crypto) are scattered throughout, as he relates his day to day experiences, such as being pulled over on the motorway while driving with his girlfriend.
Set against a retro sounding beat and rhythm, Big Mubz recalls old school US rap, while his vocals and lyrics are very much contemporary UK hip hop. ‘Fly Fella’ sees him collaborate with producer JB Productions, who’s best known for his work with artists such as Fredo and Sidhu Mooswala.
To accompany the track, Big Mubz flew to Dubai to shoot a video which showcases the vibrant nightlife of that city, adding to the “day in the life” feel of the track. The clip opens humorously, with Big Mubz and his friends getting their cars getting stuck in the sand.
Big Mubz began his musical career at just 11 years of age, when he recorded his first track, ‘Visions’, at the local youth club. In spite of this early start, he didn’t start considering his music seriously until the last couple of years, with his official debut being, ‘The Games Rigged’, released in January last year. That track garnered for Big Mubz a massive 200K streams plus on Spotify, and a further 300K views of the video on YouTube. Capitalising on this success, Big Mubz then collaborated with Tiny Boost on the track, ‘Bitter Sweet’, amassing more than 150K Spotify streams and 200K YouTube views so far. Following this, he released ‘Contradictions’, in December 2023, which was matched with a music video shot in Switzerland. Additionally, he has released an EP, ‘UB1 Archives’, which is a compilation of seven tracks he created between 2014 and 2020.
