Johnny PE Follows On Somehow’ With New Country/Hip Hop Track, ‘Changes’

Johnny PEs latest collaboration with MCV is the single, ‘Changes’ which sees them pair up in the music video with director 3:00 AM.

Based on events in Johnny’s life, ‘Changes’ fuses Johnny’s signature Usher style vocals with modern trap beats, the result being what Johnny describes as “new-age country”. Modern music being what it is, there’s often no clear distinction between styles, and audiences tend to come from across the whole spectrum of sound.

‘Changes’ is, as mentioned, deeply personal, and covers the theme of the struggle of addiction, and recognising that sometimes Labels aside, “Changes” is deeply personal – a song about the struggles of addiction and acknowledging that sometimes the only thing that holds a person back from the success they could otherwise achieve, is themselves.

The music video is equally stark and realistic, with 3:00 AM depicting the heartbreaking reality of addiction with a trashed hotel room, and Johnny’s superb acting of what it’s like to go through a depressive episode.
