Jesus Is Still Alright With Me: J.LONG Brings Funk And Soul To His New Single, ‘J.A.I.M.E.’

J.LONG was born to make music. Coming from a family of artists and musicians, the Christian funk/hip hop creator started playing drums at the age of 2, and found success with his brother, K.Bel,. later joining the R&B and hip-hop group, Pretty Ricky.

Following his spiritual awakening, J.LONG, from LaMarque, Texas, started releasing music as a solo artist in 2009, garnering plays on radio stations across the USA. He recently moved to Nashville, and has since released three albums jam-packed full of innovative, God-centred, funk-infused songs that will get you up and dancing in the aisles.

‘J.A.I.M.E’, is J.LONG’s most recent release, and it’s also the title track for his 3rd album this year. A play on his first name, it also stands for “Jesus Absolutely Is My Everything”, and the high-energy track channels the Holy Spirit, as well as the likes of Prince, and Lenny Kravitz. The slightly off-kilter beats are matched with punchy synths and jangly guitars and fluid bass runs. On top of all this, the lyrics are catchy as all, and J.LONG’s mellifluous vocals are as smooth and sweet as honey.

The music video for ‘J.A.I.M.E.’, directed by David Andro, is set in a warehouse, where J.LONG sings alongside his wife, Cyntoia Brown-Long, and their band. J.LONG plays expertly as he captivates us on his orange-checkered custom six-string, and we see clips of friends, family, and members of the community, joining in the song, which will likewise prove irresistible for any listener.
