Earlier this year, on the 9th of June, the Australia-based alt-rock band Cosmo Blue released their latest single (third overall), titled ‘Sweet Moments’. The song is a brilliant throwback to the 80s, reminding us of the styles that gave rise to music as we know it today, while also providing a pleasant listening experience for anyone – it’s a song anyone can pick up and get into in just a couple seconds.
Based in Sydney, Australia, the duo have been hard at work for the past year and a half, touring their city and its surrounding towns. They released their first single, ‘Wild Stallion’, on January 14th last year, establishing themselves in the Australian indie scene, and continued to make great impressions with their next single, ‘Take Hold Of The Night’, which released September 2nd. Their performance gained them a small, but devoted fan base spread all around Sydney, and they have been making waves recently in the indie rock scene – something they seek to do more of with ‘Sweet Moments’.
As previously stated, ‘Sweet Moments’ is a throwback to the 80s, demonstrating the music styles that helped influence modern music. It’s not just a nostalgia trip for those who grew up in the decade – it’s a window into that part of history and culture for younger people who grew up after those times were over. The song is accompanied by a music video, which shows off those same 80s cultural elements and acts as the perfect visualiser for the song. It’s also an example of expert cinematography – despite Cosmo Blue’s small budget, they have one-upped their previous video once again, with masterful camera work and great visual effects forming the basis of a great video.
This incredible song (and video) has left their fan base wishing for more music – luckily, another single is being released later this month, which you can learn more about on Cosmo Blue’s Facebook page, linked here.
