Norwegian singer/songwriter Bjarte dePresno Borthen, who performs as dePresno, reveals his first single of the new year, ‘Loser In The Night’. The artist, who is based on Norway’s west coast, showcases his warm, baritone vocals, in the introspective folk-inspired ballad, highlighting the pain of unrequited love.
dePresno has established for himself a reputation for lyrical precision, and his unique depth of voice, and he explains more about the inspiration behind his new single:
“It lays bare the heartache and confusion that comes with being rejected by someone you love and more so grappling with the desire to be with someone who isn’t really yours to be. Despite the sadness and confusion at the core of the song, I feel like the vocals and melodies give “Loser In The Night” a sense of hope and resilience.”
dePresno has spent the past five years in finding his feet as an artist, both in real time and in full view. Honing his skills, experimenting with his songwriting and sound over a handful of projects, ‘Loser In The Night’ is a taste of the Norwegian singer/songwriter’s most unapologetic, honest self.
This latest chapter is paved with light at the end of the tunnel offering a unique insight into his mind. Previous singles, ‘Silence’, and, ‘Make Me Feel Your Love’ are set to be included on his upcoming album, due for release this year. dePresno reveals,
“these are among the most intimately personal songs I have ever composed and they offer a glimpse in my inner world – exploring both the profound and mundane.”
Tackling universal emotions on every level from the minutiae of day-to-day problems to all-encompassing love and loss, dePresno’s aim is to capture and convey the full range of human emotions and experiences through his music. A rollercoaster ride through his own emotional landscape, there is so much to discover as dePresno is set to unveil more new music this year.
