Sonarpilot Releases Next Chapter Of ‘The Mirage Project: Season 2’ With New Single, ‘Citadel’

The ambient EDM sounds of producer and former tech entrepreneur Michael Moppert, aka Sonarpilot, will once again lull you, relax you, and perhaps mesmerise you in his new single, ‘Citadel’, the latest release from ‘The Mirage Project: Season 2’.

Fascinating sonic sculptures are the what characterise Sonarpilot’s work, and h takes inspiration from a wide range of musical sources, including monastic choirs from the 12th century, modern electronica, and 1950s jazz. His sound sculptures meet their match in the visual feasts of Roger Mader, whose fractal imagery swoops and swirls in perfect time to Sonarpilot’s music. Mention must also be made of the third part of the team, London-based DJ and producer Jonny Miller, whose remixes took ‘The Mirage Project: Season 1’ to a whole other level. The trio re-joined forces for ‘The Mirage Project: Season 2’.

‘Citadel’ will have you moving in ways that Sonarpilot’s previous releases did not. While still as compelling as before, and just as trancelike, the rhythms are more intense, more tribal, and there’s a scratchy, industrial sound that wakes you from your reverie every so often.

Nonetheless, while ‘Citadel’ is more a club track than the previous Sonarpilot singles, fans will not miss any of the previous attractions, and the video is as alluring as ever, with Mader’s fractal sequences edited by Moppert himself. Starting out with what appears to be an ancient fortress, we move ever closer and deeper into the spires and towers, while colours and shapes are distorted, reimagined, and devolved from every possible angle.

Speaking about ‘Citadel’, Sonarpilot says,

“In this Mirage we have pushed the visual boundaries well beyond all the journeys that we have created so far. ‘Citadel’ is a place where the laws of nature cease to exist as we enter an increasingly dreamy, abstract composition of shapes and colours, a saga of transience. It’s a new chapter for us and we hope that our viewers will enjoy this exceptional voyage.”
