No matter how negative the world, it doesn’t hurt to stop and take notice of the good things we have in life, and hold firm to those moments of positivity. Los Angeles artist Universe, The King knows this well, and he’s been spreading his brand of positivity ever since he first emerged onto the music scene back in 2002, when he made music under the name, “16 Barz”. It’s seen him make an impact on listeners, as well as some of the biggest labels in the business, gaining him attention from the likes of Def Jam and Interscope Records, as well as other hip-hop legends.
Universe, The King has also gained for himself a reputation for being a driving force in bringing creativity back into mainstream music, and it shows in his music videos, with the first few from his debut album have garnering a combined 425,000 views so far on YouTube alone.
Just as in the title, there’s nothing but good vibes in his latest single, ‘Good Habits And Energy’. Packed full of energy with a philosophical twist, the Hip-Hop song shares the same qualities as all the greats: addictively catchy rhythms, alongside often piercing words of wisdom. It highlights UTK’s positive approach at life’s ups and downs through his relationship with himself and God, as he raps about how all he needs is his faith and his confidence. After a long battle with depression after the passing of his dear friend and rapper Nipsey Hussle, UTK has never been more inspired, and it sure shows.
The good vibes keep growing in the music video for ‘Good Habits And Energy, which starts strong with UTK spitting bars in his sleek Dodge Challenger with Lamborghini doors, driven by his wife. When the car is parked, UTK is joined by his wife and daughter for a dance party for three in the middle of the street. As the song transitions, we see UTKs childhood best friends roll up ready to join in on the fun. The video becomes a meaningful meet up of friends who’ve become family all wearing UTKs “I Support The Homies” clothing brand. The great vibes remain strong throughout, while cutting back and forward between an incredible performance from UTK and a “meeting of minds” with his friends. The clip concludes with a beautiful slow motion shot, exemplifying the great energy from the past and present, passing on to the future.
