Grey DeLisle – ‘Tonight You Belong To Me’

Grey DeLisle’s album, ‘Borrowed’ has the audacity to cover songs from T. Rex to Willie Nelson and from Pink Floyd to Hank Williams, and features string arrangements by Eric Gorfain (Radiohead, Coldplay) and Tammy Rogers (The Steeldrivers, Victoria Williams). You’ll have to wait to hear it in full however, as the album won’t be released until later in 2021. Meanwhile, you can check out the second single and video, ‘Tonight You Belong to Me’, which was previously recorded by The Honeys in 1969, and produced by Brian Wilson, of The Beach Boys.

The video for ‘Tonight You Belong To Me’ was directed by Ross Kolton and Marvin Etzioni, and was shot in the living room while the song was being recorded. To make it even more of a home-made feel of a song, engineer Billy Mims did all his work on the dining room table. Mims is known for having engineered records by Morrissey, and The Black Crowes. In the band, we see Murry Hammond of the Old 97s, alongside Etzioni on acoustic guitars, Monique Mizrahi on charango, and, of course, Grey DeLisle with her gorgeous vocals. The video documents THE live vocal take. The single was mixed by Mike Poole and mastered at Abbey Road Studios, London by Grammy Award winner Sean Magee, best known for his work with The Beatles.
