Greg Dunston, originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, but now based in Charlotte, discovered a love of hip hop when he was in College, and earned the nickname of The Punch Line Kid (PLK) from the memorable lines he would come up with in his lyrics.
His music makes you feel good, and without profanity, meaning that his rhymes are suitable for all ages, and his music gives you a dance groove. Drawing comparisons to Drake, Big Greg made his debut in 2010 with his mixtape ‘What’s It Gonna Be Like’, and in 2015 he won the Hip Hop Artist of the Year awards at the Charlotte Music Awards International (CMAI) and received a Hollywood Music in Media (HMMA) nomination.
Greg’s latest single, ‘Oh No’, features his labelmate LaTruth, and is based on a true story. In a past relationship he was barely able to feed himself – let alone buy things for his girlfriend – leading to feelings of inadequacy. Speaking of that time and the setting of the video, which sees Big Greg and LaTruth speaking directly to the camera, sharing heartbreak and real life experiences – Greg says,
“After about five months in, she told me that she could do better by finding someone that could spoil her. Shortly after, she began dating a guy who had graduated and was well off into his career, and the rest is history. I wanted to capture that story for ‘Oh No’ and the fight scene was basically how I would have imagined it would have went down, me knocking him OUT!”
