Beth Ditto reunites with Gossip for UK/EU Anniversary Tour

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough record and subsequently cult album, ‘Music For Men’, Gossip are reuniting for a very special UK/European tour. Tickets go on sale Friday March 29, 9am, through bandsintown.

The tour will see the band together on stage for the first time since going on hiatus in 2012. The ‘Music For Men’ anniversary tour commences on July 4 at the Beauregard Festival, in Herouville Saint Clair, France, before finally winding up at Dublin’s Love Sentation 2019 on August 18. The UK segment of the tour will see performances in London, Glasgow, and Manchester, all in July.

‘Music For Men’ has been variously described as, “a raised fist of a record”, by the Guardian, “the disco record of the year” by Uncut, and by NME as “The greatest punk rock ‘n’ roll disco soul band on the planet.” Gossip certainly hit their prime with the release of ‘Music For Men’, in 2009, which was critically acclaimed. Produced by the multi-Grammy Award winning Rick Rubin, and recorded at the historic Shangri La Studios, in Malibu, California, ‘Music For Men’ sold more than 1.5 million copies, and made frontwoman Beth Ditto an icon, with her powerful, righteous vocals. Lead track, ‘Heavy Cross’, is still a favourite among fans, and even now continues to garner thousands of streams every month.

Trio Gossip brought queer politics to the mainstream with their particular brand of soulful swagger. They also took body politics squarely on the face, and defied being pigeonholed or ignored, and found their way onto magazine covers all over the world.

Clearly ahead of their time, Gossip firmly established themselves with a reputation for being one of the most exciting, and relevant, must-see bands. Nathan Howdeshell’s riffs, alongside Hannah Billie’s pulsating drums quickly became the stuff of legends, while Beth Ditto’s voice remains a thing of wonder: on one side tender, on the other well able to unleash a ferocious range.

What time could be more appropriate than now for Gossip to reunite, and embark on a tour, when the issues which had fired up their anthems – those of politics, culture, gender, and sexuality – are very much part of our day to day life and reported on the news every day.

Speaking of the anniversary, Gossip said,

ā€œWe canā€™t believe itā€™s been 10 years since the release of Music For Men! We are beyond excited to reunite with our Gossip family and fans. Weā€™ve truly missed playing these songs and connecting with our amazing and inspiring crowds. Itā€™ll be a sweaty, outrageous time for sure. Canā€™t wait to see yā€™all in Europe in July!ā€
