We Speak With DaLamonze About New Single, ‘For Your Love’

We recently spoke with DaLamonze following his new single and music video, ‘For Your Love‘.

How are you feeling about everything that’s happened in the last year?

I think this past year was full of challenges for growth and finding a placement in the current music field. As I noticed the evolution of music, I find more comfort and understanding where I fit, and very accepting of that.

When did you first realize music was going to be a major part of your life?

As soon as I was able to hit the stage in seventh grade. I knew that this was something that drove me more than any other desire. The creation of the music came so easily that it was even more validation that this is not just what I do, but a part of who I am.

How did you stay true to yourself after gaining attention online?

I don’t think online attention really changed anything about who I am or how I present myself except that I understood that I needed to be as intentional as I possibly can. There’s no telling what gets the attention or what will be the next thing that the followers you have are interested in seeing. But honestly, everything is curated, and everything should be thought out with integrity

What does ‘For Your Love’ mean to you personally?

This song was just another pillar of genre possibilities for me. I love the process of creation and showing versatility. The lyrics themselves are very important to me, but they are more just a reflection of the way I feel internally, so they were the easiest thing to place.

Why was it important to make the song open to different interpretations of love?

Because nobody knows what love is to everyone. It comes in so many different forms and facets. The most important part is to understand that there is someone who loves you the way that you deserve to be loved, and they are willing to go to the end of the earth to show you that

What was your favorite part of filming the music video?

That would probably be wandering through the woods, a bloody mess. Although it’s not seeing, there were a lot of people on that trail that stopped and were interested in what we were doing, and I was able to connect with them during that process.

Was there a memorable or funny moment from the shoot?

There was one group of people that approached me and said: “Sir, are you hurt?”. In character, I looked them in the eyes, and I said, “No, my heart is broken, for I was attacked by my lover’s father”. They had the most shocked look on their face because they did not notice the camera or the crew with us until after. I said that, and they slowly put the pieces together, but it was a hilarious 10 to 15 seconds of them not knowing what to do to help me

What does fan support mean to you at this stage of your career?

The right amount of fans at this level and in my career can change everything. Just a few hundred dedicated individuals can change a person‘s life when they’re releasing merch and projects as well as engaging with their social media profiles.

What can fans look forward to next from you?

I actually have another song and music video coming out shortly as well as a project that I’ve been working on called ‘Voice Memos’.

Anything else you’d like to share before we finish?

I’m just looking forward to engaging with more people and building my catalogue even more.
