Craig Cavanagh Brings Soulful Return To Music With Deeply Personal New EP, ’13 Summers Later’

Liverpool singer-songwriter, Craig Cavanagh, has returned to music with his first release in more than a decade, ’13 Summers Later’. The new EP sees this artist exploring love, loss, and the process of finding oneself again, as he covers everything that’s happened to him since his 2013 debut, ‘Green Eyed Soul’.

’13 Summers Later’ is out now, and is available to stream and download here.

’13 Summers Later’ sees Craig Cavanagh blend pop, reggae, dancehall, soul, and live instrumentation, giving listeners a look at his life over the past thirteen years, and turning his personal growth and grief into songs that will resonate with everyone, no matter where they are in the world.

The opening track, ‘Autumn XIII-XVI Interlude’ serves as a reflection on the time that has passe since his last release, and includes a poignant homage to his father, who died from cancer in 2016, ending the song with a voicemail message his father once left for him.

‘Love2HateYa’, featuring Jonny Crane on saxophone, was released as a single in July, and is a smooth soulful track with a Caribbean feel. Final track, ‘Outside In’, sees Cavanagh take a gospel turn with a song representing the internal battle between three versions of the same person.

’13 Summers Later’ was recorded in Liverpool with producer Lucy McQuillan, and co-producer Mikey Fell, with each song beginning as a melody in Craig Cavanagh’s head, before being worked with musicians in the studio.

Speaking of the EP, and his return to music, Craig said,

“Coming back after thirteen years was daunting. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created. If there’s one thing I hope people take away from ’13 Summers Later’, it’s that creativity never dies. Dreams don’t have an expiry date, and sometimes the best chapters take thirteen summers to write”.

’13 Summers Later’ is out now, and is available to stream and download here. You can find out more about Craig Cavanagh and his music online on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify, and Apple Music.
