Shaheed & DJ Supreme Are ‘Brainstorming’ With New Video

Faves over here at Essentially Pop for not just their music but also their drive to raise up their community of Birmingham, Alabama, Shaheed & DJ Supreme are back today with the first of two tracks, ‘Brainstorming’.

The pair have been bringing their style for the best of two decades, positivity in a world that’s often marked by crises and struggle. Their non-profit organisation, KRU (Knowledge, Rhythm, and Understanding), allows them to use music as a tool by which to inspire youth, and give future leaders the things necessary to empower them. They tell revolutionary stories of education, mindfulness, and above all, the belief that art is able to bring meaningful change to lives.

Originally released in 2023, ‘Brainstorming’ is re-introduced by way of a black and white music video, itself reminiscent of a sneaker shop display from back in the early 2000s. The track has had new life breathed into it through the addition of vocalist Lauren Strain, who adds her soft, airy tones, giving the already emotionally rich track some extra depth. All three collaborators, Shaheed, DJ Supreme, and Lauren, appear in the music video, as they tell the story of creating from a place of clarity; with a clear head and an open heart, with no negativity, and external intrusions. As such, the black and white adds to the purity of the track, allowing the listener and viewer to have unhindered access to the track, with no distractions.
