Ozzie D. always writes directly from the heart, no less so than with her single, ‘America, Our Great Land’.
Recognising the tensions that have been rising up in the US over the last six months, with the increasingly common discussions about polarisation, and the state of democracy – it’s easy to feel that Americans are more divided than ever before. Ozzie D. prefers not to take a political stance however, and so with ‘America, Our Great Land’, she has decided it’s her mission to help guide the country back on course, holding a virtual mirror up to everyone, and gently shaking each one, encouraging them to procrastinate no longer, urging that it’s now, “Time for us to take a stand”.
The song is a sincere and stirring tribute to her country, and while on the one hand it’s a call to reconnect with one another in a shared idea of community, on the other it serves to remind people to respect and care for the land overall. It’s not too late.
Ozzie D. does all this by way of a swaying rhythm that’s been blended with bluesy guitar licks and heartfelt harmonies that will have even the most hardheaded resister breaking down and joining in.
The track comes with a feisty lyric video to remind viewers of what they’re defending, and evokes a sense of unity, with its proud flag-waving and imagery that makes use of soldiers, veterans, and ordinary proud citizens. The clip reflects the shared values of the country, and encourages everyone to come together, create lasting change, and, above all, take care of each other once more.
