A cross-continental collaboration FrontnBack are two brothers who channel pure love and empowerment, and their new single, ‘Royal Beauty Queen’, is a universal expression of gratitude for the women and all people who make life beautiful.
Frontman James the younger brother of the pair, and ironically, represents the “back” part of the duo’s stage name. Spending his early years in Lagos, Nigeria, James always found that music was the driving force of his creative spirit, encouraged by his father’s career as a music promoter, which meant he was surrounded by musical legends from the very start. A move to England saw a temporary halt to his musical ambitions, but he got back on track, following in his father’s footsteps, promoting major Caribbean acts across the UK. While the Covid-19 Pandemic meant that his promotion career came to an end, it meant that he was allowed the opportunity to follow his dream of a musical career.
When James’ partner went for an overnight visit with a close friend, he found that he was desperately missing his “Royal Beauty Queen”, and was thus inspired to write this seductive ode to romance. With velvety vocals the song becomes a universal expression of gratitude, for not just women, but all the people who make our lives beautiful – a concept that transcends all genres and borders.
With a harmonious blend of shuffling Afrobeats, dancehall rhythms, and gleaming pop, ‘Royal Beauty Queen’ sets itself afloat on a summer breeze with a light vibrant air that’s full of passion.
The music video for ‘Royal Beauty Queen’ sees FrontnBack doesn’t cut any corners, and rather than relying on over-cliched symbols of celebration, such as champagne corks popping in the club and so on, the pair stay fiercely authentic and grounded. Shot in Hampstead Heath, the viewer is plunged into a wonderland fit for royalty, with ancient, magnificent trees, lush meadows, and peaceful waterways filling every frame. James’ sincerity and charm radiate throughout, while his real life mother, as well as his lover, beam with joy and pride whenever they are near him, in an explosion of love.
