Ozzie D. Speaks To Us About Her Festive Track, ‘Christmas Hustle’

Ozzie D. is back, this time to speak to us about her festive tune, ‘Christmas Hustle’!

Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind “Christmas Hustle”?

I was out and about doing book signings for my children’s book series  “The Adventures of Frog Man and The World of Fuzzwald & Friends” and was listening to the public complaining about the old classic songs and how they were ready for new Christmas Songs, which inspired me to write 9 Christmas songs for all ages and cultures.

As an energetic, lively track, what mood do you hope to convey with this song?

I hope it inspires others to have hope and make them get up and dance.

Why do you think the themes of “hustling” to give to friends and family resonate so deeply during the holidays?

When the Holiday season arrives people are always hustling around to get bills paid, lights displayed, trees erected, and presents purchased.

You have been writing since you were a teenager—what motivates you to make music today?

I wrote my first poem, “Salt & Pepper” at age 12 because a fella came to our school searching for children’s poetry for his compilation. Then at 14, I had my first boyfriend/break-up that broke my heart, and I wrote my first blues song, “On That Evening” about betrayal of the heart, and I have been writing ever since.

Talk to us a little bit about the production process for the lyric video. Which visuals stand out to you or were you excited to include?

I completely trusted Hip Video Promo to take care of the visuals. I simply told them to make the pictures match the words and they did the rest and didn’t disappoint!

Have you seen or heard of any memorable fan reactions to the song that made you feel like you achieved your goal of spreading cheer?

What I saw came before the videos were made. I would randomly sing the song for strangers and noticed they would get their toes tapping and body moving to the music. That is what made me notice I had something I needed to share with others.

Can you see yourself releasing more holiday songs in the future? What’s next for you?

I have 6 additional songs for the Christmas season: “PC Christmas”, “Sent Down, Christmas Time Again”, “Fine ‘Ole Christmas”, “Santa Claus Song”, “Christmas is Here”, that we will get out for the 2025 Christmas festivities. I have also written birthday songs, and an anniversary song, along with Patriotic, R&B, Spiritual, Country, and even some alternative tunes. So it is whatever the Universe sends my way, I will try to do and obey!

Shake off those winter blues and dance while watching the video for ‘Christmas Hustle’ below! You can find out more about Ozzie D. and all her creative endeavours on her Facebook page.
