Diane Arkenstone Asks If We Will Catch Her ‘When I Fall’

California songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Diane Arkenstone’s latest single, ‘When I Fall’, is both a confession of vulnerability and a statement of faith in the strength of those forces surrounding her.

With a subtle complexity, the music video for ‘When I Fall’ captures Arkenstone in a dark room, strumming on her acoustic guitar, accompanying her playing with singing. The camera focuses on her, yet doesn’t remain there the entire time, but instead we are shown a series of slow-dissolves, hypnotically arranged as if in one, long, continuous image, mimicking the rising and falling rhythms of breathing, as the light falls on Arkenstone’s hair, shoulders, and fingers, as they gently caress the guitar as she strums. Simple, yet evocative, Arkenstone’s vocals are soft and inviting, and entices the viewer to just let go, come closer, move out of the shadows, and finally know peace.
