Jah Destiny Addresses The Economic Disparity Of The World With Reggae Track, ‘Mr. Politician’

Keith ‘Jah Destiny’ Waldron, is originally from Tobago, but the seasoned Rastafarian musician and songwriter is now based in London, from where has captivated global audiences for more than three decades. Evocative reggae melodies and masterful performances on both guitar and keyboard show Jah Destiny’s relentless passion for his craft, and, when combined with his uplifting messages of love and unity, have cemented his status as a powerful and enduring figure in the music world.

Jah Destiny’s new single, ‘Mr Politician’, is a powerful anthem which stands up for equal rights and justice for those who’ve found themselves to be marginalised in society, despite living in a world that should have enough for everyone. Directly addressing the global leaders, Jah urges them to find jobs, provide education, and above all, give the underprivileged the freedom to live their own lives. His insightful lyrics shine a light on the massive disparity between the promises made by politicians, and the harsh realities faced by those less fortunate.

The music video for ‘Mr. Politician’, directed by Alison Cole, will be instantly familiar to anyone who’s been to London’s business district, The Square Mile. Towered over by St Paul’s Cathedral, Jah Destiny strolls through the streets, with his guitar in hand, while the clip captures the life of a busker as they use their talents to earn a living. There’s a stark contrast between this and the finance bros in the area, whose money is made by trading on the fortunes of others, and this underscores the song’s themes of economic disparity and social injustice.

The music video for ‘Mr. Politician’ was produced by Runabeat Media, and special thanks must be given to the videographers, Moshood Ibrahim and Ayanna Ricketts, photographer Daniel Ricketts and production assistant, Umukoro Eseoghene.
