Levi DaRosa has a positive attitude to every part of her life, and that’s thanks in a great part to song. She was introduced to music as a child, hearing to the tracks her Mum would listen to while doing the housework, and from there she devoted all her time into learning instrumental lines, as well as honing her vocals. From there she moved onto crafting songs that are not only relatable to most of us, but they also bring a smile to the listener’s face, regardless of the situation they’re in.
Levi DaRosa’s new single, ‘They Don’t (Make’m Like You)’, pays homage to those memories that, despite how good they are, seem to slip away, no matter how hard we try to hold onto them.
“They Don’t (Make’m Like You)” is an ode to good memories that seem to slip away from everyone. Opening with an enticing progression of R&B beats, the song then flows through with Levi’s vocals, romantic and soothing. While many of us have the experience of mourning relationships that ended before their time, and feel like a failure, Levi instead challenges us to realise that it’s all part of life, and shapes how we think or decide to live. While her soft tones are still pain-filled, Levi assures us that no matter what moments of negativity she goes through, they have still impacted her positively, as she remembers that there were good times.
The music video for ‘They Don’t (Make’m Like You)’ follows a couple wanting to spend every moment of their date-night together. They stay close together, enjoying the time. Later in the clip, we see Levi singing by herself, in the same spots where she once walked with her love. She sings of old memories, while looking around for the feelings she had during the relationship. Despite the sadness, however, there is joy and positivity, for having once loved.
