Instant Smile Return With New Single, ‘Crazy’, From Recently Released ‘4 x 2’ EP

Following on from their single, ‘Thorazine Bender‘, released earlier this month, Athens Georgia based married couple, Instant Smile, have returned with their new track, ‘Crazy’. Both ‘Thorazine Bender’ and ‘Crazy’ are from their new EP, ‘4 x 2’.

As with ‘Thorazine Bender’, ‘Crazy’ serves as a showcase for the duo’s rock influences, bearing some instrumental resemblance to the surf rock style and glorious harmonies of fellow Athens Georgians, The B-52s, along with Instant Smile’s signature trippy, psychedelic vocals and lyricism. There’s also what feels like an homage to ‘The Munsters’ theme tune in the music, which, if intentional, is a nice touch for spooky season.

Comprising real life couple, guitarist Greg Phoenix and drummer Erin Berry, Instant Smile live and breathe their music, bringing intelligent lyrics and talented musicianship to the forefront. They take turns highlighting each other’s forte; Greg’s skilled guitar playing is showcased with several solos, while Erin is allowed the spotlight with her powerful drumming throughout.

The music video for ‘Crazy’ takes place in what appears to be Instant Smile’s loungeroom, the duo playing and singing, interspersed with clips of how the world has become such a crazy place. The clip finishes with the duo take a walk through the streets of Athens, having got their frustration with the world out of their system – for the time being at least.
