With a sombre, sultry voice, Cardamone is an adept storyteller, and brings this to her music, along with her experiences working in the performing arts around the world. This can be heard in her latest single, ‘Killer’, which, just like her hometown Melbourne, Australia, shows this pop singer songwriter is much more than meets the eye.
When Cardamone moved to Los Angeles as a young dancer, she made a name for herself as a dancer for the likes of Justin Bieber, and Flo Rida. Not satisfied with merely being a backing dancer for mega-stars however, she threw herself into her art, including intensive voice training – with great success. Cardamone’s vocal prowess sees her belt out a tune a la Adele, seduce like Billie Eilish, or croon with the husky tones of Amy Winehouse. She moved on from her success in LA, onto a residency at the prestigious Playboy Establishment in Hanoi, before returning to Australia, where she has been working on her solo work. Now, having signed with Swedish record label, Ocean Music Group, Caradmone is working on the release of an EP of songs which will serve as a showcase for her full range.
In fact, Cardamone’s new single, ‘Killer’, is a gorgeous example of what she has in store. Her vocal talents and storytelling are both on display, as she builds intensity with both her voice and mounting orchestration. The artist paints with words and music a picture of control and longing, while being in a relationship that has long ceased to satisfy. Harking back to the title tracks of James Bond songs of the recent past, Cardamone’s vocals swing from fragile intimacy to dominant control – and stand up to comparisons with the likes of Adele, Billie Eilish, and even Sam Smith.
Directed by Martijn Sedgfield, the music video for ‘Killer’ is more akin to a feature film, and includes choreography by Benjamin Curé and Neville Parry. We see Cardamone seducing, and then rejecting person after person, all while twirling through a sea of pastels and earth tones. It’s a pure example of not just her vocal ability but also her natural dance talent, making Cardamone a triple-threat to look out for.
