Alt-Pop Artist Matt Luther Hits Home With Impassioned New Single, ‘Alone’

Norfolk Virginia based alternative artist Matt Luther reveals his most intimate feelings in his new single, ‘Alone’. Luther, who speaks about his life experiences in each of his tracks, came up with the idea for the melancholic piano ballad while sitting on a bench in the middle of Disney World.

Opening with the lines, “Sitting in a room with a billion people / I’ve never felt more alone”, Matt Luther’s new single ‘Alone’ will strike a chord with many, as it examines the loneliness people can suffer, even while they are surrounded by other people. He says,

“Ever since my brain injury, it feels like I’m in a world that is living and going about each and every day while I wear a cloak and just get to observe”.

The artist remembers that the piano chords and melodies played in is head while he thought of the lyrics. Once he’d put it down on paper, it was brought to life in he back of his RV, where he mixed, mastered, and produced the song himself. The words will doubtlessly hit hard with a lot of people, and the anxiety in Luther’s voice is poignant and striking in its evident pain and distress.

“I’ve travelled millions of miles / I’ve seen millions of faces / I’ve faked millions of smiles / And I’ve been a million places / but right now I feel, so Alone, Alone, I’ve never felt more Alone”.

Matt Luther started writing songs in 2017 after the death of his grandfather, giving him an outlet to his feelings. He then went on to study for a music degree, allowing him to compose, produce, mix, and master everything himself, and create his own “Mattospheric” sound, a blend of Alt-Pop, Alt-Rock, and Experimental music. Matt’s debut single release, ‘Danielle Strong’, garnered more than 100 thousand streams and built excitement for ‘O.R.A.N.G.E.’, the first title in his ‘Colours Of My Life Collection’.

His work as a musician has allowed him to donate profits to Children’s Cancer Research, as well as dedicating albums to mental health awareness, where he shares his own life experiences with each track. ‘V.I.O.L.E.T.’, and ‘Y.E.L.L.O.W.’, are set for release soon, bringing the colour series to its conclusion, and setting the stage for his next project.

Matt Luther’s plans for 2023 include performing in the Southwest and West Coast of the USA.

‘Alone’ is out now and can be streamed and downloaded here.
