Originally from Jamaica, but now living in Virginia, Rayon Baugh is spreading faith and love with his new single, ‘City of God’, featuring Carlene Baugh.
In this uncertain world still in need of encouragement, we need artists to rise up and lead us in songs of power and praise. Rayon Baugh is such an artist. A follower of Christ from his early days, he’s been writing songs since he was 12, and his devotion to God and his faith has only ever grown stronger, being guided and his family provided for over the years. He was inspired by the pandemic to create unique reggae-style gospel music, through which he brings uplifting messages and themes of hope, peace, and worship.
Rayon’s first hit was all the way back in 1992, with the single ‘Keep Your Feet on the Ground’. Originally written in 1984, it reached the top 10 of Jamaica’s Gospel festival competition, and is still sung by choirs today, with Rayon’s art known and recognized throughout the Caribbean and beyond. His new track, ‘City Of God’, and Rayon’s upcoming album, see him take his life experiences and and musical talents, and transform them into a work that will be sure to please his listeners and help them to find their life path with God’s good grace and guidance.
‘City of God’ takes its lyrics directly from Psalm 46 of the Bible, and it reminds listeners that God’s strength and refuge will get them through any barrier. Rayon sat at his piano, and took the verses as a sign from God. Singing the psalm, his wife Carlene was moved to pray along with Rayon’s singing. The delivery of Carlene’s intercession within the ‘City of God’ track adds something truly special to the inspiring melody and its message of trusting in God.
The video for ‘City Of God’ captures Rayon and Carlene in the studio, as well as footage from places all over the world, incorporating the natural beauty of the Earth in spite of the trying times. No matter where audiences are and what overwhelms them, there is no reason to be afraid, and the clip for ‘City of God’ serves as the perfect complement to Rayon and Carlene’s performance.
