VISSIA Celebrates The Power Of Platonic Love In Neo-Soul Track ‘The Cliffs’

It’s a laid back, summer-y tune for the Canadian songstress’ fourth single of this current album cycle. ‘The Cliff’s unmistakably taps into the kind of sound put forward by Halsey and the kind of visuals which Lana del Ray makes her own – full of endless hazy summers’ days, a hitchhiked road trip with a stranger, love found in the most unlikely places. ‘The Cliffs’ is taken from Vissia’s upcoming album, With Pleasure, out in April.

Vissia is an artist whose unmistakable grin, youthful writing style and intuitive perception are warm enough to thaw out any Canadian winter. ‘The Cliffs’ is no exception, with Vissia taking on the role of platonic cheerleader, championing the struggles and achievements of her friend in song form.

For Vissia, writing the songs for this album has been a growth process.

“My only motive [in writing With Pleasure] was: do what feels good. Not what I thought somebody else would think is good or cool or the most profound, but what feels good to me. I luxuriated in emotion, indulged my curiosity and really had fun with the process. This might all sound like a very obvious approach to take, but we are all coming home to ourselves in our own time. The kind of growth it takes to stand firmly in our own convictions takes the time that it takes, but the timing is always right.”

‘The Cliffs’ is out now with the rest of With Pleasure to follow on the 30th April 2021.
