Estani – ‘Droughts In The Ocean’

Estani is not restricted to any particular genre with her style ranging from Latin soul to acoustic, jazz, and salsa. The Los Angeles based artist is a singer songwriter and vocal coach, specialising in music production, and her talent is illustrated in her lyrical depth and emotional honesty. Estani’s new single, ‘Droughts In The Ocean’, showcases her musical strengths, along with a striking, black and white music video.

Estani and dancers are garbed in flowing dresses, almost angelic in appearance. Her velvety voice exquisitely captures the lyrics, while the fluid dance routine is the perfect illustration of the song. The video cuts to show Estani, enjoying the warm sun and sand, on the beach, and ends as she and her dancers sit at peace, their heads facing down, the waves peacefully making their way to the shore. Singing hard-hitting lines such as, “I’m not who I used to be / but still who I’ve always been”, we realise that too often we assume that what we see on the surface is all that a person is. We don’t recognise the inner struggles and battles; but we need to become mindful of these. Estani shares the struggle of putting up a front when everything is not okay, and when she’s not 100% fine. It’s something we can all relate to, especially in this time of world pandemic.
