The Dead Daisies – ‘Holy Ground (Shake The Memory)’

The Dead Daisies have been having a great year for releasing singles, and their latest, ‘Holy Ground (Shake The Memory)’ is no exception.

The song is the title track of their 5th long player, set for release on January 22 next year, and it’s a belter of a track. Lead singer Glenn Hughes lets rip, with his legendary pipes shrieking a banshee’s wail one minute, and dropping to an exquisite melodic hook the next. The riffs have an evil about them that’s come straight from hell, while the backing vocals are perfectly beautiful in their composition. Produced by Ben Grosse, who’s worked with Dream Theater, Marilyn Manson, Sevendust, and Disturbed, the albums louds are made even louder, while the metal is infinitely heavier.

The accompanying clip sees the band performing, banging out a live set, with a backdrop of deep space and cemeteries – everything a diehard rock fan could ask for in a video. Directed by David Pear, the band have been set up in front of a wall of amps, and allowed to let loose, and the viewer is taken up close and personal with every note and beat, while images of exploding suns and towering tombstones fill the screen. It’s a true headbanger’s dream come to life.
