Nuke The Soup – ‘Feed The Fire’

Mark Davison, has been fiercely independent since forever, and as front man of Nuke The Soup, certainly knows how to make a statement. On the band’s album, ‘Deeper’, released in 2018, they ruminate on politics, commercialism, global warming, personal relationships – and the state of the world. Nothing major really! Their aim is to make you think, despite how uncomfortable it may make you feel.

Along with keyboardist Brian Simms, Mike Mennell on bass, Rennie Grant on guitar, Andy Thurston, Gerry “Spooky Ghost” Leonard (best known for his work with David Bowie), and Chester Thompson on drums (Genesis, Zappa), Davison has crafted some pretty damned witty and joyous songs, despite delving deeply into themes of a dark nature.

In the video for latest single, ‘Feed The Fire’, Davison found a way of incorporating his love for the sports of skiing, windsurfing, and kiting, and – somehow – he’s also worked the band’s characteristic Caribbean influence into the track, with ‘Feed The Fire’ having a ska beat that nonetheless fits perfectly with the adrenaline-packed action of the video.

The clip opens with a scene shot in the snowy quiet of Fernie, British Columbia, and focuses on three athletes, professional ski guide Kieren Gaul, in Rossland, British Columbia; windsurfer Andy Pusch (Cabarete, Dominican Republic), and pro kiter Georgina Monti, also in Cabarete. The rocking nature of the music and the high energy of the clip are set to get you out of your seat, no matter what time of year, nor where you are in the world.
