Toronto-based hip hop and R&B singer/songwriter and producer Mayze has dropped his debut EP, ‘The Afterparty’.

Released through REKLESS Collective, a media company founded by Mayze himself, the EP blends modern hip hop and R&B with an electronica sound. The 20 year old artist grew up listening to 50 Cent, Kanye West and Lil’ Wayne, and these influences are apparent in his music, as well as echoes of his contemporaries, including J Cole, Tory Lanez, and fellow Torontan, Drake. He taught himself to produce, record, and mix his music in order to develop his own style, and has honed his skills to such an extent as to present himself as a versatile singer, songwriter, and producer.

‘The Afterparty’ takes the listener on a journey through the nightlife of Toronto, with a story of being young and carefree in Canada’s largest city (there’s even a namecheck for the city in track 3, ‘Looking’). Regardless of this, he’s wrapped into the track the trap sounds of Atlanta, showing that this young performer has his sights set well beyond the shores of Lake Ontario.

The six track EP, ‘The Afterparty’ was released on January 13 and is available to stream through all major media providers, with further releases promised for this year.
