Ed Sheeran today released the new video for his song, ‘Galway Girl’, featuring a who’s who of Irish entertainment, and shot by the singer himself.
Starring actress Saoirse Ronan, best known for her Academy Award nominated role in ‘Brooklyn’ last year, the clip was videoed by Sheeran himself, and reads like a who’s who of Irish entertainment.
Also featured are Hector Ó hEochagáin and Tommy Tiernan, who have worked together on Irish radio station i102-104FM. ‘Love/Hate’ actor Peter Coonan is there as well.
Shot in Galway City, the video has cameos from other members of Sheeran’s family, including his cousins Murray Cummings:
And Laura Sheeran, a singer in her own right:
Saoirse Ronan of course went with Ed Sheeran and his friends John and Edward Grimes, aka Jedward, to catch Apella’s show at Whelans Rock Club, after Ed’s own sell-out performance at the nearby 3Arena. It’s well known that Ed Sheeran has been close to the Dublin twins for a number of years, but Saoirse has known them for nearly as long, and has worked with them on several occasions, including the ISPCC Anti-Bullying campaign in 2011, and the Cinemagic Awards in Belfast, in 2012.
When we were in Dublin last week we caught up with Apella, and asked them what it was like when Ed Sheeran rocked up to his show with his friends:
You can hear the whole interview on our Soundcloud.
