Official Burnt Toast are an East London-based trio whose spoken word, hip hop and punk music has been described by Luke Hannam (Gramme/Emperors New Clothes), as,
“an infectious cocktail of American paranoia, Canadian objectivity, and a very English obsession of introspection and the fly on the wall documentary with the warmth of an accessible sound.”
Official Burnt Toast are Adrian Lawrence, Patrick Luke and Abrar Hafiz. Their music is thought-provoking and insightful: “Doesn’t matter who you vote for, the government still gets in, based on lies, promises and sin”. Political? Yes, but isn’t all good hip hop meant to be about current issues and give you something to chew on?
Official Burnt Toast are known for their two bass player live shows, and played Glastonbury Greenpeace stage, citing it as a special gig. They however hold up even higher their appearances at the more intimate Standon Calling Festival, and the recent War Child charity event as having been, “key in engaging new audiences with the personal and political message in the music”.
Their debut album, ‘Tubs ‘n’ Tongue-Fu’ is available on super heavyweight vinyl and digital download from UK independent label Sonskrif.
