Dynamic Filipino Artist Tamtax Releases Playful New Single, ‘Charot’

Out now, ‘Charot’ is the new single from Filipino singer, dancer, and entertainer, Tamtax. The track takes a fun and light-hearted look at the ups and downs of life in the modern age, and turns it into a pop and OPM-infused anthem.

Released on the 19th of June via DPX Records Philippines, ‘Charot’ is available to stream and download here.

Bright and cheery with a catchy melody, the song draws its inspiration from the Filipino phrase, “charot lang pala”, which is often used to mean “just kidding”, while at the same time hinting that there’s some truth to the matter. Co-written with PEETEE X, the song came about from curiosity as to just how frequently the word is used in everyday conversation.

Capturing the feelings of hope, mixed signals, and the small disappointments to be encountered in romance, ‘Charot’ turns heartbreak into humour, as it follows the path of getting your hopes up, when you think something sweet is about to happen, only to realise it was all just a joke. Instead of taking it all too seriously and wallowing in your disappointment, you turn it around, “charot lang pala”!

The music video for ‘Charot’ takes a light-hearted look at expectation versus reality, with Tamtax searching for love, while every moment turns into an awkward and yet hilarious disappointment – over and over again. ‘Charot’ encourages listeners to laugh it off, and dance through the pitfalls, and keep it all light.
