Cajun singer-songwriter and actor Benzo Trill lived a life and a half before he even started out in music. He was on track for the Olympics and collaborated with top artists straight out of high school. But, as he explains, “It’s a movie, but I never honed in”. Determined to find his direction and some discipline, he joined the army, where he served diligently until he was honourably discharged in December 2025. He came out a relentless, focused person, with the confidence to finally pursue his lifelong musical dreams.
Benzo moved to Hollywood, from his hometown of Port Arthur, Texas, and now finds his place in the spotlight with his debut EP, ‘Chosen One’, and new single, ‘Roses’.
A track awash with intoxicating R&B warmth, ‘Roses’ follows a man who is wooing the object of his affections with romantic gestures, charisma, and effortless charm. Leaving a sumptuous bouquet of roses at her door shows his devotion, and an illustration of the joy she brings into his life. His only wish is to live in this feeling forever; one where he’s committed to her – mind, body, and soul.
The music video for ‘Roses’ doesn’t start with the romance however, but instead begins with a flashback to Benzo Trill’s career in the military, contrasting the young man who first enlisted – brash and fiery, who soon found himself in trouble – with the strong man who left that world behind forever, with tears rolling down his cheeks. Directed by Josh Jones, the clip soon gives way to a lush environ, drenched in a palette of red, with Benzo at the centre of it all, dressed to the nines, driving in a Bentley convertible, with plush leather seats, a sumptuous bouquet by his side. He oozes charm with every move, dancing effortlessly, commanding every frame he’s in. Building tension and drama, the romance unfolds in short scenes, while the chemistry between him and his lover is palpable. Finally, he sweeps her into his arms, and the pair move off into the night.
