Riding The Train To Freedom: Denise Marsa’s ‘HOLE (Until Dawn Remix)’ Is The Very Definition Of Pop With Purpose

Award-winning singer-songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur, Denise Marsa, has spent the past year and a half forging her own path in the dance music scene, proving that it’s never to late to rise up and re-invent yourself. She thrives on spontaneous inspiration, and she uses parts of her life to shape her sound, one that has evolved alongside those things that have made her who she is.

Denise Marsa has been consistently refining her style, which she defines as “pop with purpose”, seeking out collaborations across the world and genres, and has now established a partnership with a remix team, based in the UK.

Denise Marsa’s latest single, ‘HOLE (Until Dawn Remix)’, follows hot on the heels of seven consecutive Top Ten UK Music Week Commercial Pop Club Chart hits, and seems certain to be their eighth, and additional remixes from the upcoming album, ‘RISK + HEAL’, are already in the works.

Speaking of the track, Marsa says, “Every remix is a new turn in our creative process,” says Marsa. “We’re building bridges between storytelling and the dance floor between emotion and euphoria”.

Denise Marsa always turns to music to cope with the troubles of the world, which often feels like it’s spiralling into madness, finding it’s a way to climb out of the pits of hopelessness. With ‘HOLE’ (Until Dawn Remix)’, Marsa and her remix and production team, Jim Sullivan and Craig Jones, draw listeners in and raise them up with their irresistible, club-ready energy, as they call us to escape into their world, filled with strummed guitars, bouncy synths, and shuffling beats. They encourage us to jump with them on board “the train to freedom”, and we’re only too happy to do so. It’s a heartfelt and infectious invitation to link arms, and let go of the pain, while dancing until dawn.

The music video opens with Denise walking the streets of Manhattan until she enters the iconic Music Inn, the oldest music store in that district. The ceiling and walls are festooned with instruments, while every other surface is covered with records. The atmosphere is buzzing with the creative energy of those who have gone, those who are still among us, and those who are yet to come. Marsa leads us through the store, joined by others who may be searching for “a hole to crawl in”, and we all go downstairs, to find a special place, where musicians, friends, family, and supporters gather from around the world to share joyful improvisations, and some peace. Denise is joined by staff members, as well as owner Jeff Slatnick, Frank (Francis) Bosco, her first NYC guitarist, and her niece, Stephanie Colorado, and together they encapsulate the enduring spirit of the music industry.
