Minnesota’s Hollow Star Is Calling Out To God – Any God, So Long As They Answer – In ‘Seconds’

Right from the start of ‘Seconds’ you can tell that Hollow Star loves The Police. The jangly staccato lead guitar notes and pounding drums are soon accompanied by a surf-rock style rhythm guitar, and the result is simply superb.

It’s impossible to resist bopping out to this track; equally, it’s impossible to listen to it only once. Hollow Star, government name Micah Lopez, has been making music since he was a teen, and it shows. Out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, his skill is phenomenal, he clearly knows his instruments inside and out.

‘Seconds’, from Hollow Star’s upcoming debut EP, ‘Listen’ (set for release on the 9th of January), sees him calling out to God – any God – just so long as they answer him. He’s fed up with the conversations being one sided; why does it always have to be him putting in the hard work, when God’s the one who’s apparently all-powerful? Everybody’s always trying to teach him about God, that theirs is the best, and that they know this to be true: but until he gets an answer, he’s not having any of that. It’s a sobering thought, and certainly one worth considering.
