Boey Implores For Us All To Take A Stand Against Global Chaos With Anthemic Single, ‘When Will It End?’

Originally from Ipoh, Malaysia, but now based in Margate in the UK’s Kent, Boey released his poignant new single, ‘When Will It End?’ on the 15th of August. An indie-pop anthem. the track is underpinned by folk rhythms, as it channels Boey’s feelings about the seemingly relentless wars across the world today, in a way we can all relate to.

With clear pop inspiration from the likes of Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and Asiah, singer-songwriter Boey’s new single urges listeners to confront the chaos in the world, and in so doing, be the spark that changes it all. This is the first of a series of singles he hopes to drop this year, each one focusing on themes of war and poverty, and inspiring his listeners to do something about it. With a rhythmically strummed guitar from Boey’s frequent collaborator, Romanian guitarist and producer Dumi, ‘When Will It End?’ increases its urgent plea, particularly in the second part of the first chorus.

‘When Will It End?’ started life as a raw vocal demo, which Boey recorded in his room in Malaysia. Adding in Dumi’s stunning guitar, and mixed and mastered by Michael Tjanaka, it soon became a haunting request, reflecting the pure emotion of the lyrics.

Boey sees music as more than just art, but rather a platform by which to amplify the voices of those who have none. With ‘When Will It End?’, his hope is for listeners to be inspired to rise up and take action, be it by way of peaceful protests, donations to charity, or letters to world leaders. We share in his hope.

‘When Will It End?’ is out now and can be streamed and downloaded here. You can find out more about Boey and his music online on InstagramFacebook, Spotify, and Apple Music.
